- TO ENTER. Beginning May 18, 2002 (12:01 AM) Eastern Time (“ET”) through August 5, 2002 (11:59 PM ET), Online Method: To enter online, visit http://promo.servicemaster.com/promo/sweeps/2002_Q2_landing.html (the “Website”). Enter your email and zip code and follow the on screen instructions. You will be automatically entered into the sweepstakes and signed up to receive ServiceMaster Home Service Center email specials. Subscribing to ServiceMaster Home Service Center email specials will not increase your chances of winning. Write-in Method: To enter via the write-in method, hand print your name, complete address, city, state, zip code, email address (if any), and telephone number on a 3"x5" card and mail in a #10 envelope to “HSC” Sweepstakes, PO Box 22717, Long Beach, CA 90801. Write-in entries must be mailed and postmarked on or before August 6, 2002 and received by August 13, 2002. Limit one entry per person, per household, including non-family members living at address, regardless of method of entry.
- CONDITIONS: An eligible entrant may enter via online or write-in methods only. Incomplete entries are void. Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void. Online entrants must be the registered subscribers of the email account by which the entry is made. Neither The ServiceMaster Home Service Center L.L.C. (“Sponsor”), The Home Depot®, Marden-Kane, Inc., each of their respective parent companies, management companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, advertising and promotion agencies, all of their respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees, and agents, nor any telephone network or service providers (collectively, “Releasees”) are responsible for incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information, any interruption, deletion or defect, line failures of any telephone network, or problems relating to computer equipment, software, inability to access any web site or online service including any damage to participant's or any other person's computer, theft, tampering, destruction or unauthorized access or alteration of entries, entries that are late or incorrectly made or are lost due to computer or electronic malfunction or traffic congestion on the Internet, or any other human or technical error or malfunction, or mail-in entries that are late, lost, illegible, postage-due or incomplete.
- DETERMINATION OF WINNER. Eleven (11) potential winners will be selected in a random drawing that will be conducted on or around August 20, 2002, from among all eligible entries received. Drawing will be conducted under the supervision of Marden-Kane, Inc., an independent judging organization whose decisions are final and binding on matters relating to this Sweepstakes. Odds of winning depend upon the total number of eligible entries received. Multiple entries will not increase odds of winning. Potential winners will be notified by telephone, mail or email. Potential winners may be required to complete an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability, and Publicity Release (where legal). These documents must be signed, notarized and returned within fourteen (14) days of issuance of notification or such potential winners will be disqualified and alternate winners may be selected in a similar random drawing at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Failure to return such documents properly signed, notarized and completed, or if the prize notification is returned as undeliverable or should the email after three attempts be returned as undeliverable this may result in the winner being disqualified at Sponsor’s sole discretion. If in the judges’ opinion there is any suspected, or evidence of actual tampering or technological corruption of this Sweepstakes, Sponsor and judges reserve the right to void any suspect entries and/or suspend, modify and/or terminate the Sweepstakes and conduct a random drawing using all eligible, non-suspect entries received as of the date of the action requiring such termination to select a winner.
- PRIZES. One (1) Grand Prize consisting of $8,000.00 in gift cards to The Home Depot and $2,000.00 in ServiceMaster Home Service Center gift certificates towards use of any applicable ServiceMaster services or combined cash equivalent of $10,000.00. Approximate retail value of grand prize is $10,000. Ten (10) First Prizes consisting of $250.00 gift certificates towards use of any ServiceMaster services or cash equivalent of $250.00. Approximate retail value of each first prize is $250.00. Total approximate retail value of all prizes is $12,500.00. Specifics of the prizes will be at Sponsor’s sole discretion. - TAXES AND OTHER EXPENSES. All other expenses not specifically mentioned herein as being awarded, including any applicable taxes, are the sole responsibility of the Winner.
- ELIGIBILITY. Sweepstakes open only to legal residents of the 50 United States, including the District of Columbia, who are 18 years of age or older as of May 18, 2002. Employees of The ServiceMaster Home Service Center, L.L.C., The Home Depot, employees of each of their respective affiliates, parent companies, and their immediate families and household members, and Marden-Kane, Inc. are not eligible.
- GENERAL. This sweepstakes is governed by US law and subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Void where prohibited by law. Winners consent to the use of their name, biographical information, photographs and/or likeness for advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law. By entering, entrants agree to release and hold harmless Releasees from and against any claims, demands, causes of action, injury, loss, damage or liability of any kind resulting from participating in this promotion or from the acceptance or use of any prize awarded. No substitution or transfer of prize is permitted, except Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the prize with one of comparable or greater value, whether in cash or otherwise, if the prize cannot be awarded as advertised for any reason.
- CAUTION. ANY ATTEMPT TO DAMAGE ANY ONLINE SERVICE OR WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATIONS OF THE SWEEPSTAKES VIOLATES CRIMINAL OR CIVIL LAWS. IF SUCH AN ATTEMPT IS MADE, SPONSOR MAY DISQUALIFY ANY ENTRANT MAKING SUCH ATTEMPT AND MAY SEEK DAMAGES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. Further, any person who supplies false information, obtains entries by fraudulent means, or is otherwise determined to be in violation of these official rules will forfeit any prize won and may be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
